He is Faithful & True
Let’s talk about temptation.
It’s can be little things, like choosing the comfort of hitting the snooze button, the ease of ordering take-out, staying up for just one more ep of New Girl—(guilty!) But sometimes those temptations are bigger: seeking honor when it should be God’s, holding a grudge to be “right” rather than showing grace and love, carving out my own path instead of seeking after God’s path.
But something I take comfort in is knowing that I AM NOT ALONE in my struggles. Paul writes in his first letter to the Corinthians: “If you think you are standing strong, be careful not to fall. The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.”
I think the goal for all of us is to be standing strong. But Paul points out that we all have similar struggles in life. We can take comfort in that we are all in this together. We don’t have to face temptation alone when we are in COMMUNITY with one another.
We don’t have to go face temptation alone because God is with us always.
He will not allow temptation to be more than we can stand. He has us in His hands. Even when it seems darkest, even when it seems Satan has a stronghold on us, God has us. He will show us the path through it. He is the guide, the mighty fortress, the Father that we lean on in the face of temptation.
He will prove faithful and true, and guide us out of temptation to Him.
