Hi, I’m Jess—the Indiana Watercolor Artist Behind Art and Home co.
I’m an Indiana watercolor artist, a mom of two little boys, and a minister’s wife. I paint every design you see here, and I ship every order from my studio.
It started with a promise.
My first watercolor class in college was outside. We painted at the farmers market in Indianapolis, in the gardens at Newfields, and in greenhouses around the city. I fell hard for the soft, uneven shapes of real flowers.
Before I graduated, I made myself a promise: I would never give up art, no matter where life took me.
Ten years later, I’m still keeping it. Life looks nothing like I pictured. There are two boys, a church family, a kitchen that is never fully clean, and a studio I squeeze in between all of it. I’m still painting.
Why gifts?
I’m the person who keeps a card and a little something in the drawer. I love the moment someone opens a gift and realizes you were paying attention.
So I started making things I’d want to give. A tea towel she’ll grab every morning. A tote she’ll get asked about at the grocery store. A print for the wall in the room where she actually lives.
It’s why the tagline is the tagline: Made by hand. Meant to be given.
What I believe.
Ordinary days are worth making beautiful. Not someday, not when the kitchen is remodeled. Tuesday, over the sink, with the good towel.
